No matter what time of year it is, or how cold it is, a milkshake never sounds like a bad idea. I love Dairy Queen's Blizzards. I found a recipe that tastes identical to it, so I had to share it with you today. Now I don't even have to leave my house to enjoy one.

Copycat Dairy Queen Blizzard Recipe (1)

This Copycat Dairy Queen Blizzard recipe is my favorite thing this time of year, it has simple ingredients and tastes like the real thing!

A Soft serve, ice cream treat with all your favorite mix-ins. Our dq blizzard recipe has become a summer staple and one of our most popular copycat recipes!

Ingredients needed to make Copycat Dairy Queen Blizzard recipe:

Copycat Dairy Queen Oreo Blizzard

  • 4cupsvanilla ice cream
  • 8Oreo Cookiesdouble stuff, broken into chunks
  • 8 mini Oreo Cookies for topping

How to make Copycat Dairy Queen Blizzards:

  1. Place frozen ice cream into a large bowl. With a hand mixer, beat the ice cream on medium speed until the ice cream is creamy, but still very thick.
  2. Fold in the Oreo chunks by hand. When they are stirred in well, spoon into 2 cups and serve with a spoon.

Make your favorite flavors with these mix ins:

  • Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
  • M&M’s
  • Reeses Pieces
  • Heath Candy Bars
  • Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
  • Snickers
  • Butterfingers

For Best results when making Dairy Queen’s Blizzards:

  • No ice cream maker required to make these easy homemade blizzards but a food processor is helpful to chop up the mix ins.
  • Most milkshake recipes call for ice cream, unless you are really making yours from scratch. When finding an ice cream at the store, be sure to look for premium regular ice cream. (We haven’t tried low fat ice cream or vegan ice cream for this recipe.) This will definitely be thicker, making a thicker milkshake.
  • In this recipe, we don’t use any whole milk or half and half. We strictly use ice cream. When you use milk or a different liquid to smooth out your milkshake, it becomes more of a thick drink, than a thick shake.
  • You could also use malted milk powder if you are going for a malt shake. This will most definitely thicken up your shake.

Other Ice Cream Desserts we love:

  • Pumpkin Pie Milkshake
  • Caramel Waffle Cone Milkshake
  • Skinny Chocolate Raspberry Milkshake
  • Homemade Strawberry Milkshake
  • Homemade Fresh Peach Milkshake

We made these tonight. We put the bowl in the freezer for about an hour. We made Oreos in one batch, M&Ms for another Blizzard, and the third one we use Heath Bar and we added a Folgers instant packet of coffee.
