Program Director

Phuong Luong is the Program Director for Boston University’s Financial Planning Program, and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. Phuong’s first career was as a math teacher, special educator, and curriculum developer for public schools through New England. After transitioning to financial education and financial planning, she founded Just Wealth, a virtual, fee-only financial planning practice for individuals and families. Phuong is a founding member of the CFP Board Center for Financial Planning’s Diversity Advisory Group, where she helps build pathways to attract and retain professionals from diverse backgrounds into the financial planning profession. The CFP Board is the national certifying body for the 90,000+ CFP® professionalsin the U.S. She also served as Chair and Chair Emeritus of the CFP Board’s Council on Education, where she advised CFP Board staff on the development of education standards and certification requirements for CFP®professionals.She was a former member of the CFP Board Ethics Working Group and developed Ethics training for financial advisors currently used by continuing education providers and professional organizations across the U.S. Phuong received a B.A. from Dartmouth College, where she was a graduate of the Teacher Education Program and a recipient of the Woodrow-Wilson Rockefeller Brothers Fellowship for Aspiring Teachers of Color. She earned a M.Ed. in Special Education from Boston University.She also completed the Financial Planning Program at Boston University, where she was a recipient of the Robert J. Kenneth Dean, MST, CPA, CFP®, CFA, FRM

Ken is a Certified Public Account (CPA) who holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner.Ken is the Senior Director of Financial Planning at Winthrop Wealth Management, Boston MA. Previously, he provided accounting and tax services to personal clients for 30+ years, and has 10 years of experience as an international tax manager, dealing with large multinational companies such as Degussa, Toshiba, and Colgate-Palmolive. Ken earned his Master of Science in Taxation in 1995, and a State and Local Tax certification in 1999 from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Over the past 20 years, he has taught all sections of the CFP® curriculum for various financial planning programs, banks, and financial service companies. In addition to being an instructor in Boston University’s Financial Planning Program, Ken is a contributing content editor. He is a current member of the NJSCPA, the Boston Security Analysis Society, and the CFA Institute.

Daniel J. Galli, M.Ed, CFP®, ChFC, CLU

Dan Galli is a financial planner, CFP® practitioner and principal of Daniel J. Galli & Associates, located in Norwell, Massachusetts. Dan began his financial services career in 1986 following 11 years as a public school teacher. He has built a practice that includes fee-based financial planning and commission-based activity. Today, his practice focuses on retirement planning for professionals, small business owners, teachers, and other individuals, designing qualified retirement plans, maximizing savings, and managing assets.

He is a registered representative of Ameritas Investment Company LLC with FINRA Series 7, 24, and 63 registrations. He holds a Masters of Education in Elementary Education Administration as well as Chartered Financial Consultant and Chartered Life Underwriter designations. Dan has extensive experience teaching courses at colleges in Boston, and developing financial planning content development for corporate presentations.

In conjunction with the Financial Planning Association of MA, he has coordinated a program of Personal Financial Chats for the Boston Globe website. He has served on the Board of Directors and President of the Massachusetts Chapter of the Financial Planning Association. Dan currently serves on the national Board of Directors of the Financial Planning Association and also serves as Treasurer of the FPA.

Dan also works with Goldman Sachs, providing educational workshops for employees of companies NetScout, MathWorks, Northern Trust, Charles River Associates and others.

Dan updates the Retirement Planning and Employee Benefits course for Boston University’s on-line financial planning program.

Todd J. Mulligan, CFP®, CFA, CAIA

Todd Mulligan is a Senior Vice President, Portfolio Management Director and Financial Advisor in the great Boston area. Todd focuses on creating and implementing comprehensive financial plans and investment strategies for high net-worth individuals and families. Working with his clients and other subject matter experts Todd helps to coordinate clients’ toughest financial decisions.

Todd holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and Chartered Financial Analyst designations, as well as the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation. These advanced certifications help provide insight to a wide variety of client concerns.

In addition to his financial planning practice, Todd has been teaching the Investment Planning course at Boston University since 2016. He has also served as a Content Editor for Wiley and Sons publishing company on various financial planning topics focused on portfolio construction and investment management. Most recently, Todd was asked to serve as a volunteer on a Global Private Wealth Management panel for CFA Institute where he is shaping Wealth Planning topics that will be covered on future CFA exams.

Todd lives in Medfield, MA with his wife Jessica and children Zachary and Emilia. Outside of the office, Todd enjoys rooting for New England sports teams, running, reading, and time with his family. Todd graduated from Colgate University, where he played Division 1 college football.

Jena is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and the program’s facilitator. She began her career at Fidelity Investments, working in both New Hampshire and in Boston. Jena has since focused her career efforts on innovation and towards expanding financial planning and financial services to underserved and overlooked audiences. She has worked on projects for IDEO, at the Society of Grownups (a MassMutual-funded startup in Brookline, MA), for Prudential, State Farm, multiple Department of Defense contractors, and for other start up entities and non-profit organizations. Jena received her B.S. from Excelsior University and earned her M.S. in Financial Services from The American College of Financial Services. She also holds the ChFC®, CLU®, and CASL® designations.

Carolynn B. Tomin, CFP®

Carolynn B. Tomin, CFP®, is the former Program Director of Boston University’s classroom and online financial planning programs and a former CFP® Program Director at Merrimack College. Throughout her twenty years at Boston University, she developed new courses for their classroom and online programs and augmented curriculum for their online program. She taught estate planning courses and CFP® Exam reviews at several universities in Massachusetts and Florida, including for the College for Financial Planning at Northeastern University. She also taught estate planning courses for many banks and financial service companies in both states.

Ms. Tomin is co-author of Principles of Estate Planning, a National Underwriter Academic Series textbook that is now in its fourth edition. She is also a contributing author for National Underwriter’s textbook, The Tools & Techniques of Financial Planning. She previously co-founded a financial education company, Beacon Hill Financial Educators, that provides continuing education courses to CFP® professionals and CPAs throughout the country. While co-owning the company, she created many CE courses and presented them to financial service companies and financial planning organizations at local and national conferences.

Ms. Tomin served as a member of CFP Board’s Council on Education from 2009–2012 and was appointed Chair in 2012. She also served on numerous committees at CFP Board and was often chosen to present at their registered program conferences. She previously served on the Board of Directors for the southwest Florida chapter of the Financial Planning Association (FPA).

Rosaline Rogers Banks, CFP®, CRPC®, MBA

Rosaline R. Banks has had multiple roles within the financial sector. After completing her master’s in business administration at Union University, she began working in corporate finance with International Paper as a strategic financial analyst. In this role, she primarily focused on product profitability and work process effectiveness for multiple business units within the company.

Prior to starting her financial advisory career, Rosaline worked as a pharmaceutical representative for eight years. She decided to pursue a career in 2011 as a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch after several physicians told her she would be a great financial advisor. She has worked as a financial solutions advisor, a regional private banker for high-net worth clients, and most recently as a financial consultant with Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA) for employees of higher education institutions in the Tennessee and Mississippi market.

As a consultant with TIAA, Rosaline utilizes her knowledge of retirement plans and investment products to deliver advice based on the needs of retirement plan participants. While a typical day for Rosaline may include discussions about pension plans, tax deferred annuities, or other investment options, she also works closely with plan sponsors and administrators to implement strategies designed to increase employee engagement.

Rosaline completed her formal undergraduate studies at Boston University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in economics and international relations. She also completed the Financial Planning Program at Boston University and joined the program as a subject matter expert for the Retirement Income and Employee Benefits course.

Lastly, she is a proud Air Force veteran. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two wonderful children. When she is not helping people plan for a successful retirement or working with the Financial Planning Program, she is an active participant in her family’s real estate rehabbing business.

Gregory J. McLaughlin, MS, CFP®, BFA™, AIF®

Greg’s practice provides a range of financial planning, investment and insurance solutions for individuals, families, executives, and small businesses. Greg and his team strive to stay on the cutting edge of changes in today’s marketplace, so that your financial plan can stay current with legislative, insurance and investment developments. The team is dedicated to helping you realize your personal financial goals by looking at your financial picture through a 360 degree lens while balancing two very important components; emotions and finances.

Greg received his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Bentley University in Waltham, MA. He acquired the CFP® designation and earned a Master of Science degree with a major in personal financial planning. In his spare time Greg enjoys reading, golfing and playing basketball. Nancy M. Brogan, CFP®

Nancy Brogan began working in the financial service industry in 2009 where she initially started in her firm’s accounting department. As the firm’s Financial Administrator, she was responsible for corporate and fund accounting. She then moved to the Research Department where she was responsible for performing credit analyses on municipal credits, and then ultimately transitioned to the Client Services Department where she holds the position of Sr. Client Service Manager and is responsible for Client Services of Wealth Managers and Direct Individuals.

Ms. Brogan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Hodges University and was inducted into the Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society. She is a member of the Southwest Florida Financial Planning Association and was the first recipient to receive the Financial Planning CFP® Exam Scholarship Program.

Anthony Corsino, CFP®, ChFC®, CRPC®

Anthony “Tony Zen” Corsino, CFP®, ChFC®, CRPC®, serves the financial affairs for affluent individuals, families, and business owners throughout New England. David Manteau, CFA, CFP®

David Manteau is a Chartered Financial Analyst® and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, specializing in Financial Planning Analysis and Investment Management services for clients of a Registered Investment Advisor in the Greater Boston Area. He began his career in the financial services industry in 2005 with roles in the areas of financial planning, investment management, and research. David has been involved in the development, review and approval of financial plans and providing training and assistance to financial planners.

David holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation and the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter. Lou Tzamalas, CFP®, CAP®, EA

Lou is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®), and IRS-Enrolled Agent (EA) who specializes in tax planning for Family Office and UHNW (Ultra-High Net Worth) clients, including advisory and charitable gifting strategies for non-cash assets. Tax planners are to wealth and financial advisors as surgeons are to PCPs; wealth advisors can identify problems with their clients’ financial plans, but Lou is called in when tax planning complexities arise and expertise is required.

Lou isn’t just interested in growing his clients’ assets or tax savings to increase their net worth, but also in aligning their values to improve their world. John is Senior Director with the Principal Financial Group®. John is currently in his 21st year with Principal® and 30th year overall in the industry. He helps employers design and implement the most appropriate retirement plan for their employees.

John received his BS in Business Administration from Merrimack College in North Andover, MA, and a MBA from Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH.

He also received his Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) designation from The American College (PA) and his Chartered Retirement Plan Specialist (CRPS®) designation from The College for Financial Planning (CO). John also holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) Designation.

John is a FINRA Registered Representative of Principal Securities, a member of The Principal Financial Group®. He holds his Series 6, 7 and 63 registrations and is a Registered Investment Adviser.

In addition to his duties at Principal®, John is an Adjunct Professor at Boston University, and Kaplan University where he teaches Income Tax, Estate Planning, Investment Planning and Retirement Planning in each university’s respective Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) Program.
